Meal making
Listen to the pot lid rattle

The creation of meals will allow you to subsist for longer on the food you have gathered. Create a bowl and a pot with pottery and fire them in a pit kiln. Once you have a fired pot, place it into a firepit, this will add 4 "cooking pot" slots to the firepit inventory where you can place ingredients. You can cook many different meals by filling 2 - 4 slots of the cooking pot with ingredients. All used slots must hold an equal amount of portions. Portion sizes for each ingredient can be found up in the meal recipes. You can cook up to 6 portions at once, but the more portions, the longer it takes to cook!

If you actually want to eat that meal instead of inhaling the sweet aroma, you will need a bowl. With an empty bowl in hand, rightmouse-click on the pot to fill the bowl. You can then eat from the bowl. If you want to clean out a bowl or cooking pot without eating its contents, just toss it in some water.

You can read the cooking recipes for more specific instructions and lists of ingredients. Alternatively, some simple cooked foods, such as roasted meats or cooked cattail root, require no pot at all, just prepare the item directly over a firepit. And don't forget to check out dough and the pie recipes for lessons in baking, too!
